Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad – The Promised Messiah (as)

A sub-ordinate prophet, from amongst the followers of the Holy Prophet Muhammad(sa), to unite mankind in the Latter Days.

On February 13th, 1835, in the small Indian village of Qadian, a man named Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad(as) was born. He belonged to a well-known and noble family.

All religions contain prophecies that foretell the advent of a special individual, who will come as a reformer in the latter days. In Islam, Muslims await a promised Mahdi and Messiah. The advent of the Promised Messiah(as) was prophesized by the Holy Prophet(sa) himself. According to a tradition, the Holy Prophet(sa) was sitting among his companions, two verses from Surah al Jum’uah were revealed,

“He it is Who has raised among the unlettered people a Messenger from among themselves who recites unto them His Signs, and purifies them, and teaches them the Book and Wisdom though before that they were in manifest error; And He will raise him among others of them who have not yet joined them. He is the Mighty, the Wise.” (62:3-4)

Know About Ahmadiyya Khilafat

Caliphate in Ahmadiyya

The term Caliphate or ‘Khalifat’ mean successorship, and the Caliph or ‘Khalifa’ is a successor to a Prophet of Allah whose goal is to carry to the completion tasks of reformation and moral training that were brought by the Prophet, continuing to nurture the community’s faith and practices for as long as Allah wishes. When the Promised Messiah, Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad(as), the founder of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community, passed away, Khilafat was established like it was for his Master-Prophet, Muhammad (saw). This is known as the Khilafat of Ahmadiyyat or Khilafat al-Ahmadiyya.

The Khalifa of the Promised Messiah(as) is known as Khalifa-tul-Masih, or Khalifa of the Messiah.

Like Hazrat Abu Bakr, Hazrat Nooruddin established the unity of the Community after the death of the Promised Messiah.
